RULES & GUIDELINES

Some are made to be broken... these are NOT

General Rules for the Discord Server & all areas of Anakainosis:

1. Don't be a dick

Not sure what being a "dick" is? Twitch's community guidelines are a great place to start learning about the kind of conduct we expect our members to adhere to in this server: https://www.twitch.tv/p/en/legal/community-guidelines/. In addition to the baseline Twitch community guidelines, in this community the use of hate-speech (slurs, derogatory remarks or jokes, etc. at the expense of minority groups), regardless of context, will result in a permanent server ban without warning. "Punching down" is likewise not tolerated here.

2. Recording/Image-Posting Guidelines

We've gone through great pains to make in-game experience for players to be as close to "in-person" as we can through this server. If you would like to record or stream gameplay, it's expected and required that you get permission from everyone involved in the game/discussion before doing so.

Everyone playing games on/off the server have different comfort levels regarding how their performance or visage is used. As a general rule, avoid low-effort shitposting screenshots of anyone's face making funny expressions when you paused a video -- people's faces do silly things mid-sentence, we get it, but see rule #1 and really think about whether or not you're violating it when posting an image.

3. Don't post Links to Illegal/Pirated Downloads or Upload Files of Protected Content

You may be excited because you found a link to something useful and want to share it, maybe you heard someone say "There's no official PDF for this" and you found an unofficial/pirated and therefore illegal one and want to say "Wait here it is!" -- if you're looking for PDF content, you can always head over to the DM's Guild. There's way more there than you could ever use in one lifetime and it's cheap enough.

We are building the world of Anakainosis together, collectively. We don't need to rip off other people's work without properly compensating them.

4. Keep Discussions/Games Family-Friendly: The Fade To Black Rule

The Anakainosis server is a family-friendly environment; please keep this in mind in regards to the topic of discussion/gameplay and the content. Specifically, we want to avoid and limit discussion that would fall under 18+/NSFW (such as unwanted messages, links, or images that are sexually suggestive or implicit, harm/gore, body horror, real-world criminal activity, etc.) Trying to seduce the dragon is not only accepted, it may be the best way for your party to survive an encounter. Sending lewd messages on this server out of game, explicitly describing graphic content in-game, or breaking Rule #1 cross the line and are grounds for immediate ban.

5. Keep Topics in their Respective Channels

Let's keep roleplay conversation in the roleplay text channel. Please don't clutter up the bounty board / town crier channels with posts that belong in the tavern common room. The same goes for voice channels. Game Night is for those who have scheduled a game. If you aren't playing, please don't hop into the game channel. The Tavern is a great place to hang out if you'd like to take part in the conversation out-of-game.

6. Character Design And Gameplay

When designing a character, understand the gameplay style: This server is primarily for a West Marches style gameplay of Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. We will be allowing content from / following the rules of D&D 5e within gameplay, specifically:

The Dungeon Master's Guide (5e)
The Player's Handbook (5e)
Xanathar's Guide To Everything
Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes
Monster Manual Deluxe Edition (5e)
Eberron: Rising From The Last War
Tasha's Cauldron of Everything
Volo's Guide to Monsters

3rd Party Content Used In This Server:

Strongholds & Followers (5e)
Kingdoms & Warfare (5e)

While we love homebrew, and obviously the world of Anakainosis is a homebrewed setting, I'd like to keep general character creation within the confines of these materials. Why? Because I'm one person trying to create a lot of homebrew content for everyone playing and balancing encounters/quests/etc. for what I hope to be a player pool of dozens of people is a lot of work without the additional complexity of homebrew character builds. If I decide to change my approval or add/subtract any stipulations, the most up-to-date ruling is the one that will be enforced.

This game will be a West Marches style gameplay. This means that, generally, sessions will begin and end in the town of Eventide. While Eventide has a number of different NPCs/Locations, the buy-in of this server's game is that your character is far more interested in exploring the world outside the walls of Eventide. You, the player, are curious about the unexplored world that lies to the West. There will be some events taking place in-town, but characters should be built with the intention of exploring the unknown world to the West of the Gleaming Realm. Building a character that wants to see the big cities to the East won't really fit with this game as it's very unlikely that I'll run a game where characters are expected to travel East.

This list will probably grow, but all rules will essentially fall back to the golden rule:
''Don't be a dick.''

If you have any questions / concerns, contact me directly. I'm the only person running this server/DMing at the moment. So while I understand that is a bit of a monarchical structure, my hope is that this community grows as we grow in Anakainosis. You're free to be as involved in that journey as you please. All I ask is that you respect everyone else who has also decided to March West. Thank you!
